Q: Should you brush right after you eat?

An assortment of breakfast food on a wooden table.

You should wait at least 30 minutes after eating or drinking (except for water) before brushing your teeth. This is especially true if you’ve eaten something acidic, such as lemons and oranges, which weaken your enamel. While your enamel is in a weakened state, brushing can wear it down and potentially cause issues in the future. We recommend you brush first thing in the morning and right before bed.
